ELIZABETH A . SKRISSON, LEED AP
PRINCIPAL

Liz is a super sensitive designer and the fountainhead behind DMET’s kindhearted modern style. She excels at envisioning beautiful interiors and crafting charismatic architecture through drawing and research. Liz is involved in all aspects of design and largely responsible for the firm’s community outreach.

Liz possesses over 25 years of professional experience as a designer at some of Detroit’s leading architectural offices including Von Staden Architects, McIntosh Poris Associates, and Hamilton Anderson. Liz’s training in hand-drafting and her time abroad in Florence, Italy continues to influence her work today. Liz enjoys serving others and has sat on the Board of Midtown Montessori and was an Advisor to and member of Art Center Community Garden and Sweet on Detroit Beekeeping Club. Liz holds a Master of Architecture from the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Lawrence Technological Institute. She also holds a certificate in Real Estate Development from the University of Michigan and is a LEED accredited design professional.

JOEL T. SCHMIDT, AIA
PRINCIPAL

Joel is a problem solver and dreamer. He excels at linking big picture ideas to details of implementation. Joel is a founding principal (with Liz) and is involved in all aspects of design and project management. 

Joel is a licensed architect and possesses an impressive resume of over 35 years of professional work in Detroit, Boston, and Cambridge, MA. where he was a designer at award-winning firms like McIntosh Poris Associates (MI), Brian Healy Architects (Boston), Kyu Sung Woo Architect, Monica Ponce de Leon Studio, and Bruner/Cott Associates (Cambridge, MA). Joel holds a Master of Architecture from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Michigan. From 2005-2020, Joel taught as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, where his teaching focused on sustainable design, advanced building construction, and professional practice.
